March marks the end of Summer in Australia, and a perfect time to visit.
Emily, David and their son Finn look back on the must-dos for a short stay in the waterfront capital.

Sydney is built on the largest natural harbour in the world, and there is no better way to explore than on the water.
RECOMMENDED ITINERARY //
Take the iconic Manly Ferry from Circular Quay to get the best waterside view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Manly is the gateway to miles of golden sands North of the City known as the Northern Beaches. Each town on this picturesque stretch of coast offers its own selection of boutique shops, restaurants and cafes all designed to take in the stunning views and local produce.
If your trip allows, take a short flight to Byron Bay for a more relaxed beach-side vibe. This stretch of white sand, turquoise water and eco-minded eateries is the perfect antidote for those less-urban.
ACTIVITY //
SURF
Since 1915 when Duke Kahanamoku visited from Hawaii to Freshwater Beach, surfing has been the sport of choice for Australian beach goers.
The Northern Beaches were recognised as the world’s first Surfing Reserve and are protected from further development, and Australia is home to some of the most iconic waves on the planet.
Today a full range of watersports activities are on offer for every age, from board riding to body-surfing to outrigger canoeing.
WALK
The area of Manly offers some fantastic walks - whether you’re looking for a beach-side stroll or a power up through the cliffs, Manly has it covered. Check out the Northern Head walk from Shelly beach if you’re interested in some spectacular views of Sydney. Alternatively, if you’re South of the City walk the coast path from Bondi Beach to Bronte Beach.
WINE
The Hunter Valley wine region is the oldest in Australia, with the First Fleet finding this patch of fertile land a welcome and lush area for farming. Be sure to visit Mountain View, Penfolds and Iron Gate vineyards. Tours through boutiquetours.com
